I typically do use up the things they send -- I do have to keep reminding myself to use them rather than save them otherwise I'll forget about them. So for example, soaps/shampoos will immediately go in the shower and I start using them the next morning.
It's pretty rare I would just toss something, though it has happened (an eye cream made my eyes sting and tear up). Sometimes it takes a long time (like lip glosses and such) and then I just keep them with my makeup/bath products in a drawer in the bathroom. I try to look through the drawer regularly to make sure things aren't gathering dust.
